I listened to a Ted talk for a minute or so. It was talking about how we are so distracted as a culture. How very few of us are truly focused on anything for any length of time. The talker said that Goldfish have attention spans of nine seconds long. We people are rating at eight seconds. WOW. That is pretty messed up! She was saying that we are so distracted by our phones and how we stop doing one task to check the phone. We continue to do that all day long. We don't actually focus on a project until complete. But we dart back and forth from one thing to the next. This has shown to make our anxiety high and our attention spans low.
I have to agree with this actually! I find that I do the same. I am drawn to pick up my phone to see if I have a text or FB message or Instagram message. No wonder I am tired all the time if this is all true. If indeed lack of concentration causes anxiety to be raised and for the brain to feel wiped out then most certainly I am in need of a change. The talk mentions to set a goal of 20 min of complete concentration on one object as much as possible. Such as this post. I am trying to write this post without any interruption.
So I am thinking that I would like to make some goals for myself for the new year. Goldfish goals...like changes that are quick! Like the concentration of the goldfish: quick and then we move on. Goals that are so big like lose 30 lbs, drink more water, eat more vegetables are great goals. However, they are too broad. I want to narrow down some very, VERY, specific goals for 2019.

So as I move forward for the month of December I want to focus on what I REALLY want to change about myself. Be specific and direct. Not like a Goldfish either.
